The American Museum of Natural History has developed and delivered an 8-hour workshop for teens in several local communities. With generous support from the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC), we are able to offer a virtual professional development opportunity to fellow science center and museum educators who are interested in learning about and possibly implementing these workshops with their local communities.
The professional development workshop will be conducted over 2 days, 2.5 hours each day. Attendees will dive into the science and public health content through the eyes of the youth they serve. Each attendee will brainstorm the unique social effects and public health response in their respective parts of the country and evaluate how local policy has affected the local youth. This session will equip attendees with the knowledge, skills, and resources to facilitate an 8-hour teen workshop in their respective institutions.
