    About the Institution: The AKC Museum of the Dog preserves, interprets, and celebrates the role of dogs in society and educates the public about the human-canine bond through its collection of art and exhibits that inspire engagement with dogs.

    Job Description: The Individual Giving Officer for the AKC Museum of the Dog is a critical role in the organization as it relates to strategic fundraising, capacity building, and trustee relationships. This person will be responsible for raising major gifts, ranging from $2,500 to $50,000 plus, to help meet annual fundraising goals, and assist in planned giving activities. This individual will create and implement annual campaigns, initiatives, and donor and prospect events to raise money and introduce new donors to the Museum. Prospect identification and cultivation strategy is also key aspect of this position.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Develop and implement in partnership with the Director of Development and the Executive Director, the strategies to achieve individual giving fund-raising goals including stretch goals
    • Manage a portfolio of identified donors, with a custom cultivation and stewardship strategy for each. Provide high-level engagement to preserve and increase their giving commitment
    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for major gifts and bequests for the purpose of supporting programming, operations, exhibitions and building the endowment
    • Manages a comprehensive cultivation tracking system for all major and planned gift donors and prospects – both in the donor database and hardcopy
    • Identify ways to increase the cultivation and involvement of donors in visits, meetings, and activities as appropriate
    • Prepares major gift proposals in response to inquiries and/or cultivation of major donors and prospects, including private foundations
    • Assist in planning, implementation, and attendance at fundraising special events
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements:
    • Demonstrated experience in Major Gift/Planned Giving fundraising
    • Excellent written communications skills and experience writing customized proposals
    • High comfort level working with wealthy individuals and senior level executives
    • Previous experience with volunteer boards and committees is essential
    • Ability to work in donor databases and to leverage the tool fully for fundraising
    • Experience creating program budgets for presentation to donors and for funding proposals
    • Familiarity with Museum operations would be considered an asset
    • CFRE designation would also be considered an asset

    This Position is: Hybrid

    Position Type: Full-Time

    Salary range: 70,000-85,000
