Job Description: The Everson Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented director of development to join the Museum’s senior management team. The development director reports to the Director & CEO and supervises a development associate and a grant writer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Create and implement a development plan that articulates focused strategies to meet short-and long- term fundraising goals.
•Research and develop cultivation plans for major gifts; oversee all aspects of prospect research, cultivation, donor relations, and stewardship.
• Develop a stewardship plan that involves the Director & CEO, as well as key members of the administrative staff and the Board of Trustees.
•Alongside the Director & CEO, serve as the key strategist in implementing capital campaigns.
•Oversee the Everson’s Membership program and create strategies for individual and corporate support.
•Conceive and execute an annual appeal, capital appeals, and membership appeals.
•Work with department heads to gain insight on Museum activities, exhibitions, and goals in order to create opportunities for funding and sponsorships.
•Develop a comprehensive strategy for generating revenue associated with major fundraising events.
•Reinvigorate the Museum’s planned giving program, including creating targeted group and individual meetings, presentations, and collateral.
•Identify opportunities for additional institutional fundraising and execute implementation plans.
•Lead monthly development meetings of the Board of Trustees.
•Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
The Everson seeks an individual with five to ten years of successful fundraising (familiarity with museum or arts fundraising a plus); the capacity to formulate and implement fundraising strategies; successful record of achievement in major gift solicitations; and strong interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills.
The ideal candidate will also possess:
•The ability to work within a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects simultaneously with ability to prioritize.
•Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
•The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
•The ability to work as a team player, mentor junior staff and interns, and work with multiple constituencies, including volunteers.
•Strong computer skills; experience with Altru software is desirable.
•Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for Museum events
