Job Description:
The Curatorial Associate will play an important role in a dynamic and expanding curatorial and interpretive program. The position reports to the Martin House Curator and works closely with the Curator and Director of Education to help develop and implement an expansive array of scholarly and public programs designed to enhance the museum’s mission.
The selected candidate will assist with the planning, research, organization, and execution of new and existing programs, as well as project-related administrative tasks. These programs will expand interpretation of the historic site through active solicitation of diverse perspectives and voices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, research, organization, and execution of new and expanding scholarly and public programs which may include: lectures, commissions, exhibitions, publications, performances, and other research and educational activities.
- Help carry out the Martin House Creative Residency Program by providing support with creative maker logistics including travel coordination, itineraries, project applications, etc.
- Research potential scholars and creative makers for scholarly and public programs, as well as assist with all aspects of program implementation to include scheduling meetings, maintaining correspondence, and tracking projects.
- Research the Martin House, its collections, and social and cultural history in support of the development of expanded scholarly and public programs.
- Assist with the creation of project-related texts, both print and digital, intended for the general public including interpretive materials and other copy.
- Produce and routinely update information related to scholarly and public programs for the Martin House website, electronic newsletter, social media, grant applications, and other communication outlets.
- Participate in efforts to maintain and update object records and files with comprehensive information. Ensure that research and related materials coming out of these projects are entered into the collections management system when appropriate. Utilize the museum’s collections management system to manage collections, exhibitions, commissions, video documentation, publications, and other related resources as required.
- Perform additional duties for Martin House scholarly and public programs, special events, exhibition openings, and public tours as required.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in 20th- and 21st-century art, architecture, and design history
- 2 years of museum, gallery, or relevant experience, including experience using a collections management system (preferably EmbARK or TMS)
- Fluency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- A commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) in the field

Salary Range: $50,00 – $55,000
