Job Description:
The Martin House seeks a part-time Volunteer Programs Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This position assists the organization in engaging a broad cross-section of our local community by overseeing and strengthening our volunteer program. The Martin House’s robust volunteer program features over 350 exceptional volunteers; the volunteer program provides vital support to the organization’s mission across departments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recruits, develops, maintains, nurtures, and leverages all active volunteers at the Martin House, including tour docents, house captains, landscape volunteers, Collections Care Committee volunteers, and education volunteers, among others.
- Supports and guides volunteer committees, subcommittees, and ad hoc volunteer initiatives, including professional development.
- Serves as liaison to all staff who manage volunteers, including recruitment, training, evaluation, and addressing concerns.
- Develops and implements Martin House special events for volunteers, including anniversary events, annual meeting in the spring, and annual celebration in the autumn.
- Utilizes CERVIS, the Martin House’s online volunteer system, to leverage and maximize volunteer involvement in specific focus areas.
- Becomes a certified Martin House docent and gives tours of the historic campus as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Museum or tour industry experience preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills with conflict resolution experience
- Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work well in a team setting
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Must be able to work some weekends and occasional evenings
